Northlake Newcomers is all about uplifting our amazing local community! We proudly support a variety of charitable organizations by donating food, clothing, personal care items, and resources for individuals with disabilities to refurbish and resell, as well as cash contributions. There are so many organizations eager for volunteers, and getting involved is a fantastic way to make a positive impact and enrich the lives of others. Other Volunteer Opportunities in St. Tammany Parish
There are many ways to give back in St. Tammany Parish, from healthcare and animal rescue to senior services, library programs, and housing projects.
1. St. Tammany Health System (STHS)
Volunteers help patients, visitors, and hospice families, and support hospital departments. Opportunities include guiding visitors, clerical work, and hospice visits. 2. St. Tammany Animal Resource Team (START)
Help rescue animals by fostering at the Covington PetSmart, cleaning and socializing cats, or assisting at fundraising and adoption events. Sign up for their volunteer mailing list to stay updated www.startfosters.com.
3. Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana – Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

4. St. Tammany Parish Library – Teen Volunteers
Teens (13–17) can join the Teen Volunteer Club (school year) or Summer Reading Volunteers (summer). Roles include assisting with library programs, events, and youth services. Applications open in spring for summer positions; limited spots available St. Tammany Parish Library.
5. HabitatSTW
Volunteers help build homes or work at the ReStore. Opportunities range from construction (framing, painting, finishing) to organizing and outreach. No prior experience required; ages 16+ (under 18 must be accompanied). Contact Christy Delgado at 985‑893‑3172 ext. 222 Habitat STW.
